Plácido Domingo: ‘Jamás me he comportado de forma agresiva con nadie’

Plácido Domingo ha hecho público un nuevo comunicado a través del cual pretende aclarar algunas cuestiones suscitadas por sus previas disculpas hacia las personas que le habían acusado de abuso sexual y su admisión de responsabilidades.

Creo necesario emitir una nueva declaración para corregir la falsa impresión generada por mi disculpa en algunos de los artículos que han informado acerca de la investigación de AGMA.

Mis disculpas hacia cualquier colega a quien de alguna manera haya podido herir o causar incomodidad por cualquier cosa que yo haya podido hacer o decir fueron sinceras y sentidas. Como lo he dicho repetidamente, nunca fue mi intención lastimar u ofender a nadie.

Pero sé lo que no he hecho, y lo negaré de nuevo. Jamás me he comportado agresivamente con nadie, y jamás he hecho nada con la intención de obstaculizar o dañar la carrera de nadie bajo ninguna circunstancia. Por el contrario, he dedicado gran parte de mi medio siglo en el mundo de la ópera a apoyar la industria y a promover la carrera de innumerables cantantes.

Estoy agradecido a todos los amigos y colegas que, hasta ahora, han creído en mí y me han apoyado en estos momentos difíciles. Para evitarles daños o cualquier otro inconveniente, he decidido cancelar mi presencia en las próximas representaciones de La Traviata en el Teatro Real de Madrid.

Cancelaré además los compromisos con aquellos teatros y compañías que tengan dificultades para llevarlos adelante. Por lo demás, atenderé todos mis otros compromisos allí donde las circunstancias lo permitan.

I feel I must issue a further statement to correct the false impression generated by my apology in some of the articles reporting on the AGMA investigation.

My apology was sincere and heartfelt, to any colleague who I have made to feel uncomfortable, or hurt in any manner, by anything I have said or done. As I have said it repeatedly, it was never my intention to hurt or offend anyone.

But I know what I have not done and I’ll deny it again. I have never behaved aggressively toward anyone, and I have never done anything to obstruct or hurt anyone’s career in any way. On the contrary, I have devoted much of my half century in the world of opera supporting the industry and promoting the career of countless singers.

I am grateful to all the friends and colleagues that, up until now, have believed in me and supported me through these difficult moments. In order to spare them harm or any additional inconvenience, I have decided to withdraw from my upcoming performances of La Traviata at the Teatro Real in Madrid.

Furthermore, I will withdraw from the engagements in which theaters and companies find it difficult to carry out those commitments. On the other hand, I will fulfill all my other commitments wherever circumstances permit it.
